SUMMARY:One-Week Daycare Intensive
DESCRIPTION:The One-Week Daycare Intensive is a five-day cohort for current\, aspiring\, and home-based child care providers in the City of Montgomery and Montgomery County who are ready to move from home-based to licensed. \nOver five days at Dream Makers Studio\, providers work through the requirements\, systems\, and business fundamentals that separate an informal care arrangement from a licensed\, growing child care business. \nCohort Eligibility \n\nMust be a current or aspiring daycare owner in the City of Montgomery or Montgomery County (Pike Road and Mt. Meigs included)\n\nCohort Information \n\nFormat: Hybrid (Virtual and In Person Sessions)\nCohort Start: September 21st\nCohort Ends: September 25th\nFee: $100 (Must be paid before first session)\n\nApply by September 10 \n  \n\n\nPitch Competition and Grant Program Eligibility\nCohort completers who are Montgomery business owners with an active business license are eligible to compete in the pitch competition. One winner receives a $5\,000 grant for relocation or technical assistance\, provided by the City of Montgomery Economic Development Department and Access Montgomery. \nSeparate from cohort eligibility. To compete in the pitch competition\, a participant must: \n\nMontgomery business owner with an active business license\nComplete the Child Care Cohort\n\nWhat “technical assistance” means\nThe $5\,000 grant is a technical assistance grant\, which means it pays for professional expertise and services that strengthen your business. It is not intended for day-to-day operating costs like rent\, inventory\, or payroll. \nExample: A child care provider uses her grant to hire a consultant who walks her through the state licensing application\, and an accountant who sets up her books and payroll classification before she brings on her first employee. She is buying expertise she does not already have — the kind that removes a barrier standing between her and her next stage of growth. \nCohort eligibility and grant eligibility are not the same. The cohort is open to current and aspiring owners. The grant program requires an active Montgomery business license. \nThe cohort runs September 21 through 25 at Dream Makers Studio\, 39 Dexter Avenue\, Suite 209. The cohort fee is $100. Applications close September 10. \nSBOSS shares critical information to help Montgomery small businesses start\, stabilize\, and grow. SBOSS does not provide legal\, tax\, or HR advice and does not guarantee licensure outcomes.

SUMMARY:Disaster Preparedness for Small Business
DESCRIPTION:If your doors closed tomorrow\, how long could your business survive? \nStorms roll through. Power goes out. A system gets hacked. A supplier goes quiet. A building closes with no warning. None of that is unusual in Montgomery\, and none of it waits for your business to be ready. \nThis one hour session walks you through what it actually takes to keep operating when something goes wrong. You will learn how to spot the risks sitting inside your own operation\, how to build a straightforward emergency plan\, how to protect the records and data your business runs on\, and how to get people back to work quickly after a disruption. \nBring what you have. If you already keep a plan\, you will leave with a sharper one. If you have never written a single line of it\, you will leave with the first steps you can put in place this week. No cost\, no pressure\, just practical preparation. \nEvent Details\n\nDate: Thursday\, September 24\, 2026\nTime: 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM CDT\nFormat: Online. Zoom link sent after registration.\nCost: No fee\nRegistration deadline: September 24\, 2026 at 8:00 AM CDT\nTopics: Business Start-up / Preplanning\, Disaster Planning & Recovery\nContact: Trish Jordan\n\nHosted by REACH Women’s Business Center\, an SBOSS resource partner.
