On Friday, August 22, Montgomery made history with the inaugural Small Business Awards, a night dedicated to celebrating the vision, grit, and impact of local entrepreneurs. Hosted at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, the event welcomed more than 300 guests, including Mayor Steven L. Reed, Helena Duncan, President & CEO of the Business Council of Alabama, elected officials, and community leaders who came together to honor the businesses shaping the city’s future
With 255 nominations narrowed down to 30 finalists, the program recognized excellence across 11 categories. Winners included:

The evening also featured a special highlight: the announcement of the Storefront Improvement Grant recipients. Seven local businesses received a total of $15,000 in funding to enhance their storefronts and strengthen Montgomery’s commercial corridors. Congratulations to 23 Court, Eugene’s Hot Chicken, Dreamland BBQ, Jesus City Church, Paradigm Lounge, Capitol City Bicycle Repair & Service, and Rick E’s.
The night concluded with the Sips at Sunset Reception, where guests mingled under the stars, raising a toast to the entrepreneurs who make Montgomery thrive. More than an awards show, the Small Business Awards marked the beginning of a movement — positioning Montgomery as the Capital of Small Business Growth in Alabama.
